'Sabías' breaks away from the traditional aesthetic of salsa and timba music by incorporating mellow electric piano and jazzy saxophone lines over Cuban guaguanco; thus, creating an intimate atmosphere which progresses into a catchy coro melody over samba rhythms.
Written and arranged by Cuban pianist Romy Hernandez, ‘Sabías’ lyrics are a recount of the feelings that arise after the break up of a relationship. Each verse is a meticulous depiction of a flashback reminiscent of the moments and circumstances that led the relationship to rupture point. The closing line of each verse invites a reflection on values, self-worth and inner truth even when ‘the truth’ is too painful to accept. Last but not least, Stefanía Quint’s charming vocals achieve an honest yet beautiful delivery of the lyrics.

Formed in December 2016, Ella Trinidad is a Latin-Australian band based in Melbourne. Their original work is heavily influenced by Afro-Cuban music and it can be described as a melting pot of salsa, timba and jazz.
